Teams: Students can prepare an engineering notebook beforehand. It may only be one page typed, (2 sided)
no smaller than 10-point font, explaining your progress and decisions in building your robot.
Event Managers: Will provide all necessary items.
The Competition: This event will have tables at which teams may build their robot. They must bring it to the
testing zone to attempt the challenge.
Challenge: Students will have 45 seconds to operate their robot using the CodeBuilder website to move as many of the balls from their platform into the goal as possible.
Scoring: Scores are determined at the end of the round. No points are awarded if rolls out of the goal.
Robot Performance Points:
- 10 Points will be awarded for each ball that is placed and stays in the forward facing goal
- 5 Points will be awarded for each ball that is placed and stays in the middle goal
- 15 points will be awarded for each ball that is placed and stays in the backwards facing goal.
- -10 points (lost) if LEGOs not put back in order after competition
- 5 Points, a sketch of your idea
- 5 Points, two photos of other attempts
- 3 Points, clear explanation of how you improved
- 2 Points, listing of team responsibilities
- 5 Points, timeline of team progress
This year's arena is both printed and 3D printed. To practice you could place the lines with painter's tape. You can also print these game elements. All necessary equipment will be provided on the day of competition.
